Top 12 Blessings in the New Covenant

In Christ we can participate in all of the blessings God promised to Abraham (Gal 3:14,29). We also get all of the blessings promised under the law covenant and none of the curses (Gal 3:13). This is pretty amazing when you think about the blessings God offered in the Old Testament:

To Abraham and his descendants God promised greatness, fruitfulness, great reward, world-reaching blessing, and more (see Gen 12:2-3, 15:1, 17:4-8, 22:18).

To those who kept the law God promised long life, fruitfulness, abundant prosperity, protection, and more (Deut 5:33, 28:3-13).

In addition to these wonderful promises, there are at least 12 awesome blessings God promises to His people exclusively under His new covenant of grace. Here they are in no particular order:

1. God forgives all our sins (Matt 26:28, Acts 13:38). Our sins are not merely covered by the blood of bulls and goats, they are paid for and taken away by the Lamb of God (Jn 1:29). At the cross, justice was satisfied. His forgiveness is perfectly complete.

2. God remembers our sins no more (Heb 8:12, 10:17; Jer 31:34). In terms of justification it’s as if we never did them.

3. God promises never to be angry with us again (Is 54:7-10). Unlike the obsolete covenant of law, the new covenant is an everlasting covenant of love and peace (Is 54:10, 55:3). God will never stop doing good to us (Jer 32:40).

4. God qualifies us (Col 1:12). It’s no longer a case of what we do (under the law covenant) or who we’re related to (under the Abrahamic covenant). It’s who we trust.

5. Jesus takes hold of us and never lets go (Php 3:12, Ju 24). Nothing can separate us from the love of God (Rms 8:39). Consequently we can speak of our hope as a “firm and secure” anchor for the soul (Heb 6:19).

6. God credits us with the perfect righteousness of Jesus (2 Cor 5:21). Righteousness is not earned, it is received (Rms 5:17). Because of Jesus’ sacrifice our status before God is “perfect forever” (Heb 10:14).

7. God gives us the Holy Spirit to teach us (Jn 14:26), empower us (Acts 1:8) and remind us of our righteousness (Jn 16:10). We no longer need priests to mediate for us, for now we can all know the Lord (Jer 31:34). We are His royal priests (1 Pet 2:9).

8. God is for us (Rms 8:31)! God justifies us and there is no more condemnation (Rms 8:1). When we sin, Jesus doesn’t judge us, He defends us (1 Jn 2:1). His grace enables us to overcome sin (Tit 2:12). He abundantly supplies all our needs (Ph 4:19) that we might enjoy life to the full (Jn 10:10). God’s favor is unearned and unmerited.

9. God is with us (Ez 37:27)! Because of Jesus the door to the throne room is always open (Heb 4:16). We can approach Him with freedom and confidence (Eph 3:12).

10. God empowers us to overcome the enemy (1 Jn 5:4). We have His delegated authority over demons and disease (Mk 16:17). We live under His divine protection (Lk 10:19). We are destined to “reign in life” (Rms 5:17).

11. God offers us His rest (Heb 4:10-11). Under the old covenant it was do, do, do. Under the new covenant it’s done, done, done (Jn 19:30). We are seated with Christ in heavenly places (Eph 2:6).

12. God gives us eternal life (Rms 6:23).

What must we do to inherit these promises? Trust in Jesus. Bet your life on Him. Take the crown off your head and lay it at His feet. Choose to believe what the Bible says about Him, that He died for the sins of the world – including yours – and rose victorious from the dead. Let others know that He is your Redeemer and King. Ask Him to fill you with His Spirit that you might know Him more.

Praise the Lord for allowing me to preach to some 700-800 Telugu precious souls this Christmas. Never did I imagine that I would do such a thing during Christmas but as we should all know by now, nothing is impossible with Him! Do continue to pray for Brother Jacob and his team as they reach their own people in Singapore. Praise the Lord for being faithful to His Word and using us finite people for the expansion of His Kingdom!

Rejoice for He is always true to His Word as we take steps of faith for His kingdom's Cause! He is still mighty to save today. Jesus said, 'Don't say 4 months then the harvest but behold, life up your eyes, and look in the fields; for they are white already to harvest!'* Let us put on His eyes of faith today.

Praise the Lord for a good turn out last Saturday at Mandai Estate. Thank the Lord for the 200+ souls who heard and responded to the message of Christmas! A number of them made professions of faith in the Lord! Praise the Lord for doing His work in the Telugu community here in Singapore. What a privilege to serve the risen King who wants all to hear and put their trust in Him! Please pray for good follow up and also for those who accepted Jesus to share it with their friends and family.

Praise the Lord for allowing me to preach in the K.L church this weekend. The topic was 'Love, the Best Way to reach the World.' Thank God for making His love available and personal! Without His amazing love, we are nothing! Praise the Lord for one soul who responded to the gospel invitation during the morning service (this man is now burdened for his wife to come to the Lord!). I was also able to join them for their evangelism after the Sunday morning service. We went to a shopping center (very much like Lucky Plaza, S'pore) and started fishing for God's Kingdom. We got to lead two souls individually to the Lord in the shopping center! Praise the Lord! Pray those invited will come out to church next week for the Christmas party. Thank the Lord for Joy and Mic mic who take good care of me during this ministry weekend =) To God be the Glory alone!

Batam, Indonesia: Thanksgivings

Praise the Lord for four hands that were raised for salvation last Sunday, 28 Nov. 09. I was able to preach in Batam for the morning service. My dad was suppose to preach but had another preaching appointment. So I took over him. Thank God for a great time with my father as well. Keep my father in prayer please! For strength to oversee the work. May the Lord continue to lead the work in Batam. Pray for the whole Batam team. They just started a new student centre for outreach. Pray that all the details will work out. Also pray that God will do exceedingly above all we ask or think through this student centre!

Trip to India: Thanksgiving Report

Praise the Lord for giving us safety during the whole trip. Being my first time in India, I was amazed at the vast difference between the rich and poor. One moment you see a beautiful hotel, the next you see a slump. Although we only stayed around the eastern part of India, I think we had a good taste of what India is like. Thank the Lord I got the privilege to travel with 2 mission-minded mentors. Through my time with them, I learned the importance of walking by faith and prayer. It was great to just see the reality of their lives lived out in everyday situations. Phrases such as 'do every thing with a purpose,' 'Like Jesus did at times, we have to learn how to answer questions with questions,' and 'focus on faith not form' were simple yet insightful things I heard during conversations with them. I am also glad I got to preach the gospel on a cart at a street corner. It was very scary to do something I have never done before but yet, it was exciting to draw on God's boldness to share His love. Other then that, it was a privilege to just be a pray-er and photographer throughout the trip. Praise the Lord for many who responded to the Gospel! During one of the meetings, I had the privilege to reassure one young man of his salvation. Praise the Lord for preparing his heart and making it possible for him to join us. This young man works in or owns a 'BATA' footwear shop and works 7 days a week, very busy man! But thank God, he was invited by a faithful friend who believed God. Praise the Lord for allowing us to share His love to Indians!

Trip to K.L Malaysia: Thanksgiving Report

Praise the Lord for giving us a great time in K.L, Malaysia.

1) 7 Nov 09. Praise the Lord for giving me the opportunity to preached in the *Safehouse to about 30 Philippinos. The title of the short message was the "Hope of Heaven." 3 key words about heaven were brought up: reality, perfection and activity. Unlike all the wrong ideas about heaven and what will people do there, the Word of God tells us what heaven is like and some things we are going to do there. In closing, I mentioned that although many(most of us would try to hide/avoid our desire for heaven) would love to be in heaven one day, not everyone will go there because heaven is a place for prepared people. Being good will not get one prepared for heaven. Only forgiven people are prepared for heaven. Then, I gave the invitation for people to put their faith in Christ for forgiveness of sins if they have not done so. Praise the Lord for we can truly live happily on earth because we are prepared for heaven!

2) 8 Nov 09. Thank God for the opportunity to give the message for the Sunday church service. The message title was "When it's no longer I but Christ." Explained that the Christian life should be simple because it's about Christ. When it's us, we struggle, become miserable and even get upset with God. But when it's about Him, His priority becomes our priority(glory of God in all we do), His prayer becomes our prayer (more laborers for the harvest) and power (dynamic strength of the Holy Spirit to witness). Christ's priority, power and prayer are accessed by simple/selfless faith in the infinite faithfulness and power of Christ in Us. Praise the Lord for sensitive hearts during the service.

3) I was definitely blessed by the fellowship and friendliness of the people there!

4) Thank God for my travel companions Aries and Faye! They were like big sisters who really looked out for me during the short trip.

*Safehouse is a temporary holding place for abused or misbehaved Philippino workers. Most of them are waiting for paper work and sufficient funds to return home. A handful of them are looking for new employers.

Ministry in KL, Malaysia (7-8 Nov. 09)

Please pray for a trip to KL, Malaysia this coming weekend (7-8 Nov 09). I will be preaching twice: Saturday afternoon for safehouse* ministry and on Sunday morning for church. Pray that God will make me a blessing to His people and those who need Jesus as their Lord and Savior!

*Safehouse is a holding place for Philippino domestic helpers who run away from their employers due to abuse and other reasons.

Next Stop: Hyderabad, India. (12-24 Nov. 09)

The next mission trip is to Hyderabad, India. Praise the Lord for opening a door for me to visit India for the very first time. I believe the organizers have been praying and trusting God for a huge harvest of souls! Please join us in prayers. Pray that the gates of hell will be pushed back aggressively. Pray for many souls to be reached, safety as we travel and also for a fruitful time of ministry with the people of India.
